What Are Custom Orthotics?

Orthotics are custom-made shoe inserts designed to decrease pain and improve your biomechanical function. Improper foot biomechanics can result in body pain and discomfort in the feet, ankles, shins, knees, hips, and back, negatively impacting daily activities and overall quality of life.

While over-the-counter shoe insoles are available, a custom orthotic is specifically designed for your foot to better help relieve pain. These are made by taking a 3D impression of the foot in an optimal position. Once cast, the orthotic is placed in the patient’s shoe to maintain proper foot alignment.

Custom Orthotics Applications

Custom Orthotics 3D Mold

Plantar Fasciitis & Heel Pain

Custom orthotics are designed to match the unique shape and gait of your feet. By offering proper support, custom foot orthotics prevent overstretching of the arch.

Consequently, conditions like plantar fasciitis and general heel and foot pain are significantly relieved, promoting the healing of soft tissues and reducing discomfort over time.

In addition to improving foot health, a custom foot orthotic can also help reduce strain on the lower limbs and tendons, effectively relieving pain and addressing conditions like Achilles tendinitis.

Our Custom Orthotics Process

Initial Consultation

We start with a comprehensive orthopedic assessment and a computerized gait scan analysis to determine if custom orthotics suit your needs.

Casting & Fabrication

Following the assessment, we take precise measurements and create a 3D mold of your feet. This process ensures your custom orthotics are perfectly tailored to your foot shape.

Orthotics Pickup

Usually 10-14 days after the fitting, your orthotics will be ready for pickup. Instructions will be given regarding how to properly “break in” your new orthotics.
