Dr. Darren Edelist, MD, CCFP (SEM), Dip Sport Med (CASEM)

Dr. Edelist has over 20 years of clinical experience in the diagnosis, treatment, recovery and prevention of a wide spectrum of sporting injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.  Dr. Edelist has extensive experience working with athletes of all ages, from all types of sports and has provided on-site medical care for various sporting teams and events. 

During your in-office assessment, Dr. Edelist will seek to understand your problem, and goals for recovery; provide you with a thorough examination; order investigations as necessary to aid in the diagnosis of your injury or condition; and discuss an individualized and evidence-based treatment plan for your specific diagnosis and goals.  As part of his management plan, Dr. Edelist may recommend exercise rehabilitation, medications, off-the-shelf bracing, custom hip or knee bracing, custom foot orthotics, and/or various injection therapies including cortisone, hyaluronic acid (Monovisc and Cingal) and orthobiologics (PRP and ASP) to create a solution that works best for you.

Dr. Darren Edelist received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Western Ontario in 1999.  He completed resident training in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2001.  In 2002, he continued his postgraduate training with a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.  Dr. Edelist holds the Diploma in Sport Medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine, the Certificate of Added Competence in Sport and Exercise Medicine from The College of Family Physicians of Canada, and a GP Focused Practice Designation in Sports Medicine from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.  He is involved in teaching family medicine residents with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Edelist was the Team Physician for Ryerson University Sports from 2004-2019.  He served as a physician for the Council of Amateur Sport Kickboxing, and has affiliations with martial arts clubs across the Greater Toronto Area.  He has also worked with Judo Ontario, the Mississauga Ice Dogs, Canada's National Ballet School, the Toronto and Mississauga Marathons, and was a fellow physician with the Philadelphia Phillies.  In recent times though, you are more likely to see Dr. Edelist in an ice hockey rink, or on a baseball or soccer field coaching and cheering on his daughters.
